HSBC Bank
On one corner of Stamford Street and Mill Lane is the HSBC (formerly Midland) Bank. On the other corner is postbox Image Behind the bank is a car park operated by the council. Behind the postbox is another car park operated by Simply Intelligent Parking. What is neither simple nor intelligent is the different charges and conditions between the two.

The Wesleyan Methodist Sunday School on the corner of Mill Street and Crown Street was built in 1877. The presence of trees at the entrance to the Mill Street car park makes it difficult to get a clear photograph of the building. Clearly some work has been done to preserve the fabric of the building in the last twelve months. See Image

The Wesleyan Methodist Sunday School on the corner of Mill Street and Crown Street was built in 1877. It closed in 1958. Despite not being a listed building it has resisted both demolition and restoration for a decade and a half at least Image

Royal Bank of Scotland, Ashton under Lyne
Formerly a branch of Williams & Glynn on Stamford Street. It is on the corner with what was Oldham Road and the nameplate is still on the side. Oldham Road was diverted several years ago around the other side of the bank in front of Lidl and this section was renamed Mill Lane.
