Carved stone post by the A62, in parish of SADDLEWORTH (OLDHAM District), Huddersfield Road, Austerlands, by No.796; opposite No.777, in pavement by entrance, on South side of road. Erected by the Wakefield & Austerlands turnpike trust in the 18th century.

Old milestone
This old milestone has been recycled as the right hand side of an outbuilding doorway on Thorpe Lane. The inscription is Saddle/worth/3M/hand to right. The building was once part of a tollhouse.
