Old milestone
Another of the West Riding milestones looked after by Yorkshiremen in Saddleworth. When casting the metal parts, Brayshaw and Booth of Liversedge usually set the place names horizontally. But long names such as Huddersfield wouldn't fit in easily so the names had to be cast at an angle. Plenty to fit in on the top section though.

Metal plate attached to stone post by the A62, in parish of SADDLEWORTH (OLDHAM District), Wall Hill; opposite Lamp 26 and telegraph pole, back to stone wall, on North side of road. Brayshaw & Booth iron casting, erected by the County Council in the 19th century.
