Variously described online as Haberdashers or Trimmers. Either way, a remnant of Rochdale's textile industry still in business.

Rochdale: Former printing works
This building, which is actually on Baron Street, is so marked on an early 1:2500 OS map in my possession. It was photographed from Drake Street through a short passage.

Castle Works
Castle Works on Baron Street was originally a printing works Image but has been home to Stones Window Blinds http://stoneswindowblinds.co.uk/ since 1979. On a rear gable end of the building behind is a faded ghost sign reading "Umar Enterprises". On the wall is a blue plague commemorating the nearby birthplace of Gracie Fields Image

Blue plaque: Dame Gracie Fields
The blue plaque on Baron Street Image reads: DAME GRACIE FIELDS 1898-1979 10 Baron Street Opposite was Gracie's childhood home from 1902 to 1910, before it was demolished. It was here, the former theatrical boarding house, where Gracie was 'discovered' and encouraged to enter her first singing contest, aged 7. In 1911, Gracie and her family lived at 45 Kenion Street, before it was demolished.
