Little Clegg Farm, Littleborough, Lancashire
This farmhouse has been thoroughly modernised, and is now almost engulfed by modern housing to the north of it, which has spread around Smithy Bridge station because of the ease of commuting to Manchester from here.

Smithy Bridge, Rochdale Canal
This bridge has given its name to a station and also to a whole district, which has become one of the most desirable parts of Rochdale in which to live. It carries an important (although unclassified) road which is the main route from Rochdale to Hollingworth Lake. In this picture we are looking west at the newly restored bridge.

Only the most basic of amenities at this location. The original station closed in 1960: this version opened in 1985.

Looking east. This is a good point to start or end a walk along this interesting canal, as a railway station adjoins, and for those wedded to a motor car, room can usually be found to park it.
