Miall Street, Rochdale
Miall Street runs parallel to the railway on the south side of Rochdale Station. Since Dr Neil Clifton's 1955 photograph http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/192836 terraced housing has been cleared, the road metalled and cars have claimed the street.

The Halfpenny Bridge, Rochdale - steps
This is now a "bridge over nothing" on a minor urban footpath. Yet it is grade 2 listed (list entry 1031919) as "a rare survival of a toll bridge over a canal". Built 1831, restored 1978 - Neil Clifton's 1977 photo shows it before restoration Image The steps up to it are at the eastern end of Hare Street.

Halfpenny Bridge, Rochdale
The canal that was formerly spanned by this bridge had been filled in by 1977, so that this side view of the bridge could be obtained. Previously there had been no access to the towpath at this point.
