Lancashire: The B6222 at Top o' the' Wood
There is an excellent bus service along the B6222 from either end, Bury or Rochdale, although some buses (like this 475 destined for Heywood) do not make the through journey. This was never a through tram line, but for many years it was the No 19 bus route, jointly operated by Bury Corporation with its light green double deckers, and Rochdale Corporation with similar buses in royal blue and cream.

Lancashire: The 'Bird i' th' Hand'
This part of East Lancashire is renowned for comfortable pubs and good real ale, and this house is a good example. The OS have an annoying habit of marking pubs on the wrong side of the road, so, for the record, this is on the north side of the B6222.

This bridleway leads northwards from the B6222 at Top o' th' Wood. Not much of it is motorable, but on foot, or on a bicycle or horse, you could probably reach Birtle.
