Old Bridge Marker on Bury Old Road, Heywood
County Bridge Marker against a stone wall on the south side of the B6222 Bury and Rochdale Old Road in Heywood, 70 metres northwest of Simpson Clough Bridge. Marker Stone
With a benchmark but what do the letters CL and the apparent division mark mean? There is another stone with the markings reversed (without benchmark) on the other side of Simpson Clough near Bamford Road junction with the B6222.

Simpson Clough Mill
Crompton's Paper Mill, tucked away at the bottom of Ashworth Valley at Simpson Clough. The mill is almost hidden (See Image]), lying along Cheesden Brook, nestled beneath Bury & Rochdale Old Road (from where this view is taken) and Ashworth Road.
