The Octagon, Finchley Road
This massive building, on the corner of Burrard Road, was built in 1894 as a Congregational church connected with the former Hackney Theological Seminary (later College) next door. It seated over a thousand but congregations dwindled and it closed in 1940. In 1947 it became the Shomei Hadath synagogue but now seems to have been converted into flats and offices.

Lyncroft Gardens, West Hampstead
Residential street running south from Finchley Road but previously it was the course of a footpath leading towards Woodbine Cottage on the edge of the Flitcroft estate. Houses here were first built by local developer Edward Jarvis Cave in the 1890s.
