Chinese Privet, corner of Dorset Square, Marylebone, London
A highlight of the walk between Baker Street and Marylebone Station along Melcombe Street is this small evergreen tree, Ligustrum lucidum 'Excelsum Superbum'. The species was introduced from the Far East in 1794. The leaves of this handsome variegated cultivar are bright green with a creamy yellow edge. Hillier Trees https://www.hillier.co.uk/trees/our-trees/ligustrum-lucidum-excelsum-superbum/ draws attention to its desirable qualities as a street tree.
