Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Hospital, Euston Road
Originally founded as the "New Hospital for Women" in the 19th century to enable poor women to obtain medical help from qualified female practitioners (very unusual in those days). This building in Euston Road dates from 1890 and is Grade 1 listed. In 1918, it was renamed after Elizabeth Garrett Anderson, the first woman to become a member of the BMA. This Hospital was subsequently merged with the Obstetric Hospital and since 2000 has been housed elsewhere. The old building still houses a small museum dedicated to Elizabeth Gararett Anderson and the pioneering days of women's medicine.

In Euston Road stands the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Hospital, a former hospital for women built, in the Queen Anne style, in 1890. Constructed of yellow stock brick with red brick dressings under a tiled roof. Restored in 2011, the building is now part of the UNISON headquarters and contains the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Gallery. The gallery, open to the public, is a permanent installation and uses a variety of media to tell the story of Elizabeth Garrett Anderson, her hospital, and women's struggle to achieve equality in the field of medicine within the wider framework of 19th and 20th century social history. The former Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Hospital for Women, Euston Road, NW1
The hospital was opened in 1890 as the New Hospital for Women, and was the first purpose-built hospital devoted to the treatment of female patients by women doctors.
