The British Library
This remarkable building was built on the site of St Pancras Goods Depot, next door to St Pancras station on Euston Road. The architect was Sir Colin St John Wilson and it was opened in June 1998, after protracted bureaucratic wrangling that at one stage looked likely to kill the project off. Parts of the library are open to the public.
