Francis Crick Institute - north-west corner
This research facility has become an iconic, "lover or hate it" building, highly visible next to St Pancras station. I love it.

Francis Crick Institute - north side
This research facility has become an iconic, "lover or hate it" building, highly visible next to St Pancras station. I love it. This is the 'shadow side' of the building, on Brill Place.

Corner of old Midland Railway goods yard, Ossulston Street
The British Library occupies the site of the former Midland Railway goods yard and bits of the perimeter wall still survive - here, with the old-fashioned street sign as a bonus.

Rear of the British Library
Seen through heavy iron gates from Brill Place, this land was once occupied by the Somers Town Goods Depot. To the right, the wall borders Ossulston Street. Although most of the site is now occupied by the British Library, plans for the use of this northern end have proved controversial.

Rear of the British Library
This is a view of the British Library that most visitors never see, from the junction between Ossulston Street and Brill Place across a waste ground colonised by buddleia.

A view of the new Francis Crick Institute from a Eurostar train, St Pancras, London
The building is to the north of the British Library. The following was displayed on the site hoarding on Brill Place during construction: "The Francis Crick Institute will be a world-leading centre for biomedical research and innovation with the scale, vision and expertise to tackle the most challenging scientific questions underpinning health and disease…" Some colour correction has been applied to the photo to counter the effect of tinted glass. Sorry about the inevitable reflections. See also Image and Image
