Memorial stone for the crew of a Hampden bomber
The Hampden I bomber (L4173 GL-T2) which crashed on 31st of May 1942 while attempting a landing on runway 04 at Horsham St. Faith's was from 14 OTU at RAF Cottesmore, Rutland. 31 year old Flight Lieutenant Wilfred Lawrie CAMERON (Pilot) was serving with the Royal Canadian Air Force. 26 year old Sergeant John Edward SHERIDAN (Navigator) was serving with the Royal Australian Air Force. B 24 Liberator crash memorial in Norwich
Battle damaged B.24 44-40283 Liberator "Lassie come home" of the 458th Bombardment Group crashed here when attempting to return to its base at Horsham St Faith's (now Norwich International Airport) on 14th January 1945. Eight members of the ten crew were killed. Unfortunately two young children were also killed. The official report mentions that the aircraft "crashed approximately one mile south of base upon return from mission. Pilot was making approach with one engine feathered and apparently lost other engine on same side." All fatalities are named on the memorial
