Modern graves in Section OO
This section is bounded in the south by Gipsy Lane. Earlham Road cemetery was expanded several times. In 1892 a large triangle of land adjacent in the west and comprising 40 acres was purchased from S Gurney Buxton and Edward North Buxton, the trustees of the late John Gurney. This part of the cemetery is bounded by Farrow Road in the east, by Bowthorpe Road in the north and by Gipsy Lane in the south. The graves here date mainly from the second half of the 20th century. ​

Grave of Professor Roland von Glasow
The memorial reads "In liebervoller Erinnerung an (In fond remembrance of) Roland von Glasow 30.07.1971 - 06.09.2015" Roland von Glasow was a Professor at the School of Environmental Sciences. His sudden death was a shock to many. He was 44. He had recently conceived the Centre for Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences (COAS) at UEA, unifying physical and biogeochemical sciences under one umbrella.
