Old Mill Terrace, Beccles
Somewhere near the top of this lane was Sayer’s or Devereux's Mill. It was probably a post mill, and one of five mills in Beccles which at one time ground corn for flour. Believed to have been built by Joseph Devereux sometime around 1820. But a mill was known on or near the site in 1742. To read more about Beccles mills I recommend "The Lost windmills of Beccles" by Margaret Knox.

Site of Beccles Gasworks
Now a Travis Perkins I think this is the site where the retorts and associated buildings were. Looking similar to that at Fakenham Image I have also learnt with a trip to Beccles Museum that there was a small post mill here.

New Road, private - Not Adopted
New road is a private road constructed in the Victorian era between Fen Land and Ravensmere. Twelve cottages were erected on the west side. The council attached a notice to the former cow byre (extreme right) on which they declare it is "Not Adopted"

The site of the former Beccles Gas Works
The gasworks when operating belonged to Mr James Malam, and was erected in 1837. They had one gasometer of 10,000 cubic feet, and supplied 108 street lamps, paid for by the Corporation. Supplies also ran into the following contiguous villages. Barsham, Gillingham, Geldeston, Ringsfield and Worlingham. The works ceased operation in the mid 1960s. It is currently a storage yard for Travis Perkins building materials
