The males make a deep far-carrying, booming sound in spring. Its reedbed-dependent small population make it an Amber List species, which includes the avocet. It is also a Schedule 1 species. Conrad Close is part of an estate of 1960s houses, a mixture of semi-detached bungalows and two storey houses. View taken looking SE towards the rising winter sun.
