Thomas Crisp V.C., D.S.C. August 15th 1917
Skipper Thomas Crisp was posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross for his bravery during the defence of his vessel, His Majesty's Smack Nelson, in the North Sea against an attack from a German submarine.
He is buried here with his wife who died the previous month.
The grave is in a neglected part of the cemetery and the 100th anniversary of his death is in less than 12 months.

Stench pipe failure in Kent Road, Lowestoft
The cast iron pipe has been replaced by a plastic pipe held in by a blob of what appears to be putty, and does not comply with the regulations as it is only half the height it should be, reaching only the bedroom windows of the nearby houses (nice!?). The ridiculous cap on the top releases the stench in a downward direction. A man living a few doors away told me, "The old pipe was replaced about a year ago and this one stinks." It is a perfect example of stupidity and bad workmanship; moreover it isn't even exactly upright.

Lowestoft St. Margaret's church
Almost hidden by the trees even in winter, the copper spire dominates the skyline of the north of the town.
