The Tollhouse
Begun circa 1150 and altered a century later, the building has an interesting history. Originally a fortified merchant's house, it was hired to the Borough in the 14th century and purchased in 1552. It has been a prison, a town hall, a police station, court house and toll office. Restored in 1883 and again in 1961 after it was bombed in 1941, Now a museum and library. Tolhouse Street - The Tolhouse
Now a museum, this 12th century building is said to be one of the country's oldest gaols. Originally built as a fortified merchant's house with a first floor hall, the building has been used as a prison, a town hall and is now a museum. It was badly damaged by a bomb in 1941 and was restored in 1960.

Great Yarmouth's Rows - a troll cart
The troll cart or Harry carry was especially designed to facilitate the transport of goods along the narrow alleyways of the rows. They were long and narrower than an ordinary horse-drawn cart, and their two wheels were placed underneath the carriage. This specimen is on display in the Tolhouse Museum and my grateful thanks go to the staff for their kind permission to photograph it. https://www.geograph.org.uk/article/Great-Yarmouths-Rows/1
