Horse drinking trough dedicated to Clement Scott
Clement Scott was a theatre critic and was disliked by many because he said it as it was, but in 1883, the Daily Telegraph printed an article which Scott had written about a visit to the north Norfolk coast. He became enamoured of the district and gave it the name Poppyland. It created a wealth of tourism overnight and popularised the area with investors but ironically he was unhappy at the result of his popularisation of this previously pristine area. He is also featured on the sign for Suffield Park, an urbanisation of Cromer. https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/6707536 The trough was erected in 1908, four years after his death.
