Author Clement Scott came to Cromer in the 1880s and immortalised the area through the Poppyland and "Garden of Sleep" works, which also attracted tourists to the area. See http://www.literarynorfolk.co.uk/poppyland.htm . The memorial is on the Cromer to Overstrand road.
