North Lodge
North Lodge, situated by the entrance on Bowthorpe Road, was built in 1855/56 and once housed the Cemetery Superintendent. The first superintendent was James Self, and he was in charge of the non-conformist burials. He lived in the North Lodge until his death in March 1883 and is buried in the vicinity.

Persian ironwood tree​ (Parrotia persica)
Persian ironwood trees are close relatives of witch hazel and are characterised by their peeling grey bark in winter, clusters of dark red flowers > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5718073 in spring and glossy green foliage in summer. In autumn, the leaves turn first yellow, then orange, and finally a fiery purple-red. Several Persian ironwood trees can be seen growing in the cemetery. The children's burial ground
It is surrounded by old gravestones appearing like sentinels guarding this location. The old stones presumably were removed from their original positions within this area.
