WW2 type F/W22 pillbox
This brick shuttered, polygonal type 22 pillbox was one of several guarding the nearby Chain Home radar station > http://www.geograph.org.uk/article/RAF-Stoke-Holy-Cross-Chain-Home-radar-station/1. After the war it formed the base of a modern telecommunications mast which has since been removed again but is still shown on current maps. Another pillbox located a short distance to the south-east had been demolished by 1955.
