This building which was built as the prestige main office for Barclays Bank in the 1920s, was recently made redundant, and has been converted into a youth drop-in centre, the Open Venue. It is on the corner of Castle Meadow and Bank Plain. The Royal Norfolk Regiment Boer War memorial is in the foreground.

In the 1900s, Crystal House was built to accommodate the showroom of Holmes and Sons of Prospect Place Works. The Grade 2 listed building dates from 1862 and has had varied uses, from an engineering company display centre to a toy shop and furniture shop. Recently Bullards Spirits, a gin distillery, set up business here. The Bullards name has a 180-year association with Norwich and its new 600-litre still is said to enable it to quadruple production.

A number of roundels mark the area of the city which was directly controlled by the Crown until 1345. This roundel can be seen by the junction of Rouen Road and Cattle Market Street.
