St Michael's Hospital (closed) - water tower
The water tower was built in 1928. The hospital has recently been closed and its clinics were replaced by community services. St Michael's > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1293920 was built by the architect Donthorn in 1848/9 and originally was a Union workhouse for 'aged men, aged women and idiots'. At present a security fence surrounds the site of a new housing development which includes the redevelopment of the former hospital.
