This view was taken from Green Lane > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1293778 as it passes the former hospital site. The hospital has recently been closed and its clinics were replaced by community services. St Michael's > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1293920 was built by the architect Donthorn in 1848/9 and originally was a Union workhouse for 'aged men, aged women and idiots'. The water tower dates from 1928.
