Old properties in Llangattock
The two properties flanking each side of the road here are old and substantial and pre-date the bulk of the housing in the village, except for the centre. The road has nice views across the Usk Valley towards parts of Crickhowell and Crug Hywel, the small 'table mountain' shaped hill above the town.

Mallard at Llangattock
Unsurprisingly, this very common duck is seen everywhere on the canal network; this one is cruising around the moored boats no doubt hoping for food.

Moorhen chick at Llangattock
This bundle of fluff was swimming frantically back to its mother - no more than a few feet distant. Moorhens (the name is a corruption of merehen) are a common sight on the canal network where the slow moving water and heavily vegetated banks suit them perfectly.

Warning sign for passing boats, Llangattock
Slowing down is not enough. The moored boats also need to be moored properly.
