The Old School, The Bryn near Penpergwm
The building on the right, now offices, was for many decades the village school until closure in 1993. Kelly's Directory of Monmouthshire 1901 has this: "Board School (mixed). Built in 1878 and enlarged in 1898, for 65 children. Average attendance, 46."

The Bryn Trading Post near Penpergwm
The original shop and post office here closed in 2004, leaving the community with no local facilities. After much hard work by a volunteer group, The Bryn Trading Post shop and post office opened on September 4th 2006.
The Bryn Trading Post is a Community Interest Company, (a non-profit making company), run by volunteers for the benefit of the community.

New use for an old phone box, The Bryn
At the mid-July 2012 date of this view, the locked box contained a few soft toys in the form of animals. At the back of the box were a representation of an Olympic relay torch, and the intertwined Olympic rings.
