The Old Church, Penallt
In a commanding position overlooking the peerless Wye valley, built on a steep slope and what seems like miles from anywhere, this wonderful little building is well worth seeking out. Victorian restoration was sensitive, thankfully. The original dedication was to St Mary, I believe.

The view is of the altar end. Note the ancient parish chest at the right of the picture - it's hewn from a tree trunk - see
Image Being a very small church, with no vestry, the register is signed on the altar after a marriage ceremony.
