Former Charlie Marks premises in Newport
For decades, the large shop on the left was the premises of C. Marks & Co. http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2215542 The business sold electrical and electronic goods and components. The shop closed in the summer of 2013 after its owner Ian Marks decided to move his business online. He has been the owner of C Marks and Co, affectionately known in Newport as Charlie Marks (after his father) since 1972. His father (real name Caple Marks) started the family business with Ada Marks as a tobacconist in the late 1940s. His father worked at the shop until his death in 1979.
