The attraction of Big Screen Sports was not enough to save the Globe Inn, Chepstow Road, in the busy shopping area of Maindee.

A F Thomas & Sons, Maindee
Dominating the corner of Chepstow Road and Albert Avenue, and reaching as far as Duckpool Road, are the premises of A F Thomas & Sons, electrical retailers.

Hafal, Maindee, Newport
Hafal (Welsh for 'equal') is the principal organisation in Wales working with individuals recovering from severe mental illness, and their families. This single-storey building is their Newport headquarters. They are open to the public
from 1pm to 4pm on Mondays, and Wednesdays-Fridays.
Located in Probert Place, a short lane connecting Chepstow Road and Glebe Street, the premises were once occupied by Maindee Cottage Gospel Mission.
