Penny Black name sign, The Victoria, Newport
Hanging from a wall bracket here. http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4886356
The Penny Black was the world's first adhesive postage stamp used in a public postal system. It was first issued in Britain in May 1840. After little more than a year it was replaced by the Penny Red, so the Victoria depicted here is young, aged in her early twenties.

Caerleon Road Betfred, Newport
Betting shop on the corner of Caerleon Road and York Road. Betfred is named after its co-founder Fred Done. His first betting shop opened in Salford in 1967, mainly funded by a substantial bet on England to win the World Cup the previous year.
