Former Durham Road school, Newport
Located on the corner of Durham Road and Elysia Street are the buildings formerly occupied by Glan Usk Primary School. For many decades the school was named Durham Road school. Now boarded up (January 2010), the last lessons were held here in December 2009.
The new Glan Usk school opened in the Glebelands in January 2010. It is a long awaited replacement for these Victorian buildings, which were declared unfit for purpose more than a decade ago.
It was reported in January 2010 that housing association Linc-Cymru had bought the premises and that they were likely to announce their plans for the site in the spring.

Rough going in Constance Street, Newport
No, not an early victim of cutbacks. On the contrary, Constance Street is being resurfaced, and this temporarily rough appearance of the road surface is during a weekend break in the work.

Viewed through a fence surrounding the site, from the corner of Durham Road and Durham Lane in late November 2014. This was the location of Durham Road School http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1693048 which closed at the end of 2009. Pupils and staff transferred to the nearby newly-built Glan Usk school, http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1934876 which opened in January 2010. The new school was a long-awaited replacement for the Victorian buildings, which had been declared unfit for purpose more than a decade earlier. There was no indication on the fencing of the future use of this site.
