Southern end of Isca Road, The Village
A variety of older and/or unusual houses front this narrow road near the left bank of the river. The first house on the left is Churn Cottage, and on the right is The White Cottage; the black bin belongs to Bolt Hole Cottage. Parking on the pavement seems to be the order of the day. The Usk Valley Walk runs up the road and turns to the right on the picture.

The Bell Inn, Caerleon
This is actually in The Village on the outskirts of Caerleon. Taken before it was open, otherwise we may have dropped in for a pint. This was the second pub we'd passed within a mile of the start of our Usk Valley Walk adventure!

Church of the Holy Spirit, The Village
This Grade II listed church, which is partially hidden from the road, was built in 1814 as a Chapel for Tabernacle Congregationalists. In 1898 it was taken over by the Anglican Church as a Chapel-of-ease (Holy Spirit) for the parish church of Christchurch. It ceased being used in 2003 and is likely to be converted to residential accommodation.
