Longbridge, Ponthir, Torfaen
Longbridge is a cul-de-sac on the north side of Station Road. Longbridge is a translation of the name of the village. The name of this cul-de-sac in Welsh is thus tautological - Y Bont Hir, Pont-hir.

Park Stores, Ponthir
Located on the corner of Caerleon Road and Station Road. In front of the stores are a Ponthir Community Council (PCC) black-framed notice board, and a PCC bench. A similar bench http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1768487 is located at the Ponthir/Llanfrechfa boundary.

Station Road, Ponthir
Station Road heads away from Caerleon Road. I don't know whether Ponthir railway station remained open until the withdrawal of local passenger services in 1962, or if it closed before then. The bigger unknown is why a small village warranted a station at all, especially as Caerleon railway station was nearby.

Former post office, Dahlia Cottage, Ponthir
This L-shaped building, Dahlia Cottage, Caerleon Road, still appears on recent maps as Ponthir Post Office, but there is little evidence now of its former usage. For some time after the closure of the post office, a postbox remained on the left side of the building, next to the doorway of what is now Ponthir Hair Company. The right half of the building, now Fizeeq Body Systems, was formerly The Co-operative Pharmacy.

Family memorial, Zion Baptist Chapel, Ponthir
This memorial (on the right) and the adjacent tombstones are for a family that was prominent in 19th century Caerleon. In particular, John Jenkins, magistrate and Deputy Lieutenant of Monmouthshire and High Sheriff in 1838. He managed a tin works in Ponthir in addition to interests in canals and docks and is credited with playing a key role in the development of Caerleon. His uncle (also John) was the founder of Ponthir Baptist chapel, giving the land on which it stands.

At the southern end of the cul-de-sac named Longbridge viewed from the corner of Station Road and Hafod Road. The bilingual name sign shows that Longbridge is Y Bont Hir in Welsh. The village name is Ponthir in English, Pont-hir (literally Long Bridge) in Welsh.
