North across Pen-y-fan Pond
The pond is a former canal feeder reservoir in what is now Pen-y-fan Country Park.
At more than 200 metres across here, this body of water looks like a lake not a pond. The Shorter Oxford English Dictionary is of little help in determining the precise distinction between a pond and lake.
A pond is "A fairly small body of still water".
A lake is "A large body of water entirely surrounded by land".
So a pond is a smaller than a lake and a lake is bigger than a pond...

Small stream, tributary of Pen-y-fan Pond
Looking upstream through railings of footbridge; a public footpath runs alongside the stream. The tree trunks in a neglected hedge can be seen running along the edge of the field. This is part of the Pen-y-fan Pond & Meadows Site of Importance for Nature Conservation.
