Chartist Man facing Newport, Blackwood
In the middle of the A4048/B4251 roundabout, adjacent to the eastern side of Chartist Bridge, Blackwood, is the Chartist Man statue. It commemorates the Chartist struggle and their march to Newport in November 1839. The statue is an imposing figure of a Chartist striding forward, pike in hand. It is made up of thousands of brass rings and represents strength in unity.
