Fork in Western Valley Road
Western Valley Road at this point veers to the left - straight ahead, the road's name changes to Pye Corner. Pye Corner is also the name of the junction a little further ahead, near the site of the former Bassaleg Junction railway station. http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1769026
Confusingly, there is also a Pye Corner http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1586340 in Nash at the southeast edge of Newport.

The Hair Junction, Rogerstone
Hairdressers located on the corner of Western Valley Road and Pye Corner.
There was previously a petrol station on this site.
The name of the business, and its railway-style name plate above the windows, recalls that there were formerly two railway stations nearby - Bassaleg and Bassaleg Junction, http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1769026. Both stations closed in 1962.

Line SSE of Pye Corner railway station, Newport
In May 2015, the next stop ahead is the terminus at Cardiff Central, about 20km away.
The direct line to Newport railway station a few kilometres away is used occasionally
(during engineering work on the usual route) but is not currently (May 2015)
deemed suitable for a permanent passenger route.
