The Round House
beside Thrapston Road (A510) northeast of Finedon. It was built on behalf of the Duke of Wellington to celebrate the battle of Waterloo. While a guest in the local stately home he mentioned that the scenery here reminded him of the Waterloo landscape. Now part of a farm. This Grade II building is listed twice because part is in Burton Latimer civil parish http://www.imagesofengland.org.uk/search/details.aspx?pid=1&id=230990 and part is in Woodford CP http://www.imagesofengland.org.uk/search/details.aspx?pid=1&id=423177 (both links give details of the history). The sign on the building reads: "Panorama. Waterloo Victory. June 18 A.D. 1815". For another "round" house, see Image

The Round House
Built in the early C19 by the Arbuthnot family of nearby Woodford House. According to http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-423177-the-round-house-that-part-in-woodford-ci#.VZbsa_lViko and http://www.burtonlatimer.info/property/unique-round-house.html The Duke of Wellington is said to have remarked that the area reminded him of that around the site of the Battle of Waterloo. The 1913 film "The Battle of Waterloo" was shot nearby.
