This is the hub for bus services in the town (hence the substantial shelters in the centre of the picture), conveniently positioned between the civic centre (out of frame to the left) and the main shopping centres (right).

Memorial to Corby steel workers
A small village up to the 1930s, Corby then boomed when steel started to be made from the locally abundant Jurassic ironstone; many of the workers coming from Scotland. Hard-hit by the closure of the steel works in the 1980s, the town has started to attract new businesses.
