The church in the park
St.Peter & St.Paul's church Abington, known locally as 'the church in the park'. The chancel and lower tower are c1200, north chapel and upper tower 15th century and the nave was largely rebuilt in 1821.

Abington Church
The Church of St Peter & St Paul is located within Abington Park. Its main claim to fame is that Lady Elizabeth Nash, Shakespeare's granddaughter was buried inside the church in 1670. Although of medieval origin, the building was extensively rebuilt in 1823 following storm damage.

Abington Park Tree Garden
The tree garden, close to the church of St Peter and St Paul, contains 13 different species of trees including this mulberry tree said to have been planted by David Garrick in 1778.

Northampton: St Peter and St Paul, Abington Park
"Of c 1200 the lower parts of the W tower, the S doorway, and the chancel. The tower is stone and unbuttressed. Some blocked original windows ... The nave had aisles but these were ripped out in 1821 after a storm had damaged the church" (Nikolaus Pevsner). The picture was taken on an intensely bright and cloudless September morning.
