Good Beer Guide-listed pub on St. Giles' Street. Internally, narrow, with bar right, eating and drinking areas left, and courtyard back. Wooden beams and some original glasswork. A statuette on the frontage attests to its previous name, Black Lion.

Main Post Office, St Giles's Street
Typical Post Office neo-classical, carrying a G V R (George V) royal cipher.
Designed in 1915 by A R Myers, regional head architect at the Office of Works, which was responsible at the time for the design of post office and other public service buildings. This was one of several Post Offices in a similar Beaux Arts style.

Northampton: St Giles Street
To the right of centre is The Wig and Pen (formerly The Black Lion) and further along The Fox and Quill. Between the two is the former Office for Weights and Measures of 1872, its ceramic tile sign rediscovered during restoration work in 2009 (try the local paper's website: http://www.northamptonchron.co.uk/news/workers-uncover-a-piece-of-history-1-893340 ).
