Crimean War memorial - 1
Specific memorials for this particular conflict are rare*, compared with those for the two World Wars. This one is in the churchyard of Beeston parish church. Listed Grade II. *The War Memorials Archive http://www.ukniwm.org.uk/server/show/nav.002 lists only around 100 generic memorials.

Crimean War memorial - 2
The dedication plaque on the memorial http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3586048 . Note that Beeston is still referred to as a village at this period. Of the four individuals commemorated, two are recorded as having died from diarrhoea, a telling comment on the state of health in those days and a reminder of why Florence Nightingale become so well known for the work that she did in the conflict.

Memorial to Sgt Jowett in Beeston churchyard
The obelisk is dedicated in general to the fallen of the Crimean war and is grade II listed (list entry 1247919) but on this side there is a plaque to Sgt W Jowett, which goes into rather too much detail of how he met his untimely end in 1856 at the age of 26.
