New houses at Bobbers Mill
A new estate is being built on the site of Ascot Works, next to the Nottingham-Mansfield-Worksop railway line. In a while this view will change again as Player's Bonded Warehouse - in the distance to the left of the tree - is being demolished. Earlier pictures taken from this viewpoint: Alan Murray-Rust’s Image] (2007) Image] (2011) Image] (2013)

Bobbers Mill Bridge
The bridge was built in the 1930s. It is seen from the footbridge at the site of a level crossing where the old Alfreton Road crossed the railway.

New houses in Ascot Road
An estate is being built on the former Ascot Works site, and houses at the north end are already occupied. In the background are the pale girders and brick parapet of Bobbers Mill Bridge, built in the 1930s to carry the A610 Alfreton Road over the Nottingham-Mansfield-Worksop railway line. The photograph was taken on an especially gloomy June morning.

Bobbers Mill: Ascot Works demolished
The factory building latterly occupied by Speedo has been demolished, opening up a view of Collins Cash & Carry on Ascot Road. That building was once a cardboard-box factory. The Nottingham-Mansfield-Worksop railway line is in the foreground of this view from Bobbers Mill Bridge.

Bobbers Mill: Collins Cash & Carry, Ascot Road
The demolition of the former Ascot Works, on the left of Ascot Road, has opened up a view south across the allotments and Ainsley Estate to the Players Bonded Warehouse, about a mile away on Wollaton Road. I last took a picture from more or less this spot in September 2011: Image

Bobbers Mill: Ascot Road as it was
This fairly dull 2009 picture has acquired some small historical value since Ascot Works - on the right - was demolished in May 2013. Collins Cash & Carry occupies the former factory building on the left. Alan Murray-Rust's Image] shows Ascot Works from Bobbers Mill Bridge; my Image] and Image] show the site after demolition. The Wheatsheaf, straight ahead on the corner of Nuthall Road and Aspley Lane, has closed since this photograph was taken.

Bobbers Mill: changes in Ascot Road
A housing estate is being built on the site of the former Ascot Works. On the left Collins Cash & Carry occupies an earlier factory building. For an idea of how things were until relatively recently, see Image] (2009).
