Footbridge over the Mansfield line
This bridge, seen from Wilkinson Street, connects Gauntley Street and Wistow Close. Bobbers Mill is in the distance and a cleared part of the Gerard's Soap Works site (latterly Cussons) in the foreground. The grey security fence at the bottom of the right-hand flight of steps marks the site of the former foot crossing; it was from there that I took my 1967 picture of Gerard's http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1537380.

Footbridge closed
The path linking Gauntley Street and Wistow Close and the footbridge over the Nottingham-Mansfield railway are closed for the duration of the demolition of the Gerard's Soap Works site (offstage left).

Trams crossing at Wilkinson Street
Because of track renewal at Noel Street, Hucknall and Phoenix Park trams were terminating at Wilkinson Street. A shuttle bus service took passengers to The Forest, where a tram service to Station Street was operating. The northbound tram (left) is just leaving Image - the unoccupied driver's cab straddles the grid line. This was a particularly cheerless April morning.
