Albert Ball Memorial Homes: cupola
The Albert Ball Memorial Homes date from 1921, and were built by the father of the Great War air ace Albert Ball VC. The cupola is topped by a biplane. The majority of Ball's exploits were in a Nieuport Scout, but he was killed in an SE5, which this more nearly resembles. The Memorial Homes are Grade II listed: see http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-455833-albert-ball-memorial-homes-nottingham Albert Ball's statue is in the grounds of Nottingham Castle - see
