The Albert Ball Memorial Homes date from 1921, and were built by the father of the Great War air ace Albert Ball VC. Its cupola, seen here over the rooftops from Church Street, is topped by a biplane. The majority of Ball's exploits were in a Nieuport Scout, but he was killed in an SE5, which this more nearly resembles.
