The former Lenton United cricket ground
Now the L-shaped playing fields of Greenholme School, this was once the home of Lenton United CC and the venue for a popular and keenly-contested annual six-a-side tournament. The site of my first slip catch in adult cricket is just to the left, in the quarter of the cricket field which is now occupied by Derby Road Medical Practice. This was a typical urban ground, with terraced housebacks on one side, industrial buildings at one end and a wooden fence at the other; there were advertising hoardings on the Derby Road side, where there are now trees. The red feathery thing poking above the houses on Cycle Road (the Raleigh Cycle Factory was on nearby Faraday Road) is the "Aspire" installation on the Nottingham University Jubilee Campus.

Former Recreation Ground
Most recently this area was the playing fields of Greenholme School (which was located in a much-extended house on Derby Road near the top left of the picture). In the more distant past I believe it have been used by a local cricket club. The adjacent Derby Road Health Centre took a bite out of the original area.
