St Cyprians Church
A rather nondescript brick-built church of the mid-1930s, it is difficult to photograph due to the surrounding trees. A summer view would be even less informative!

Carlton Hill, Christmas Day
Probably the only day of the year when you will see it as empty as this in the middle of the day.

Northdale Road
Virtually the roads in this area incorporate -dale in their name. This is Northdale Road seen from Sunnydale Road. The whole area is typical tween-wars suburbia.

Bus stopped
Unfortunately not at the bus stop. It had broken down and was going nowhere, possibly overheated on a very warm day. Whatever, there were a lot more overheating vehicles and passengers being delayed in the resultant jam.

Carlton Hill Post Office postbox ref NG4 191
The Post Office used to be a couple of blocks further east, but moved into the convenience store about 3 years ago. There was a pillar box outside that location which remained there for a few months before disappearing, without a replacement near the new Post Office. It seems that there was a problem with the location of underground services which meant that it was found to be impossible to install the pillar box. Some 2 years later, a lampbox has finally appeared outside the Post Office. The small box is symptomatic of the greatly reduced volume of mail now being posted in postboxes.

Garden for the blind
This little garden in the Carlton Hill shopping area features herbs and other scented plants which can be enjoyed by people with limited or no sight. The raised beds have been created with wheelchair users in mind. During the Christmas period the circular bed to the left is home to the local Council Christmas Tree.
