The club is home to a fitness centre, Gedling Colliery Cricket Club and Gedling Miners' Welfare FC, but I took the picture as it shows a friend, a member of Revival, the forthcoming attraction.

This grand looking property, set back from Plains Road, seems likely to have been a residential property called "Tree Tops House". It is currently a restaurant. Old maps however, suggest that it might originally have been known as Arnold Mill House.

On Mapperley Plains. A reminder that this was an important mining area; Gedling Colliery operated until the early 1990s.

The Gedling Colliery Cricket Club's ground is at the foot of a short unmade track off Plains Road, near The Mapperley Plains Social Club. Gedling Colliery was closed in October 1991.

Mapperley Plains: Gedling Miners' Welfare football ground
Gedling MW FC plays in the East Midlands Counties League. The colliery, which closed in the 1990s, was 200ft or so below here, in the valley to the south-east of Mapperley Plains.
